Abstract

Urbanization is a widespread phenomenon around the world, marked by rapid population growth and urban expansion, which present numerous challenges. This study aims to explore strategies employed to address the complexities of building communities that accommodate the needs for sustainable growth, environmental protection, and social cohesion. Urbanization management in small cities in Indonesia faces challenges related to climate change, rapid population growth, and limited natural resources. Urban spatial planning is expected to serve as an effective solution and play a key role in overcoming these challenges to achieve sustainable development. This research focuses on a literature review to gather relevant bibliographic materials. Through a systematic and scientific approach, this study seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the strategies and challenges in urban spatial planning that are essential to ensuring orderly and sustainable urban growth. By adopting a comprehensive approach that addresses conflicts of interest and leverages technology and community participation, this study aims to contribute to the advancement of urban planning practices.
